Did She Say Yes? Nicki Minaj Spotted With Diamond Ring After DJ Khaled's Marriage Proposal (PHOTOS)
It might be a massive coincidence or more likely just a massive
publicity stunt...just two days after DJ Khaled’s bizarre proposal,
Nicki Minaj is seen is wearing a huge rock on her engagement
finger....
The ring is similar to the $500,000 diamond rock which DJ Khaled
unveiled in his heartfelt proposal, but fans insist she's worn the ring
for the last few months.
UK visa: Nigerians to begin payment of £3,000 bond from November
It's a done deal people. From November 2013, Nigeria will be among the
six listed Commonwealth 'high risk' countries whose citizens will be
required to pay £3,000 tourists visa
bond before they are allowed into the UK. The remaining five are: India,
Kenya, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
But here's what the UK government are saying to pacify citizens of these countries who are outraged by this new policy. They say it's not all visitors that will be required to pay the bond, just people they consider 'highest risk'; that is people who will collect visa and refuse to leave Britain or overstay their visa terms. Those paying bonds will receive the bond back, if they abided by the terms of their visa.
According to the UK Financial Times report last Friday, the UK Home Office say there's no going back as the scheme is their most effective way of tackling abuse in their immigration system. Nigeria and the other five countries account for more than five hundred thousand visa applications in 2012.
But this scheme will kinda affect business in the UK as Nigeria is said to be the 6th biggest spenders on luxury goods in the country.

Gov Fashola Gives Man He Found Naked On The Streets N100,000 (Photo)
Abayomi |
Thinking he was a mad man, Fashola ordered his security aides to pick him up for rehabilitation.
The man was taken to the State House, Marina where he was housed for the night.
Then the governor sent for the Special Adviser on Youth and Social Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru to rehabilitate him.
But during examination, Abayomi confessed that he was not a mad man.
It turned out that he had stripped himself in the middle of the night on the road because he wanted to curse the person who stole his cell phone and his money.
PMNews reports Abayomi had visited a herbalist in his quest for revenge against the person who stole his cell phone and money and was instructed to carry out the act in order to curse his enemy, which was why he was naked in the middle of the night.
Mr Badru said:
“After I picked him up from the State House, he said he was not a mad man, but says he drinks and smokes marijuana and that he is an apprentice in a vulcanizing workshop. He said he bought a phone and that somebody stole the phone.
After we investigated for two weeks to know his family, we realised that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an arm of the Holy Cross Cathedral, is also interested in rehabilitating him.'
Badru disclosed that the governor released N100,000 to Abayomi to start up his own vulcanizing business as well as bought him a phone and asked the church to monitor his progress.
Abayomi said the governor has really changed his life, saying that if Fashola had not picked him up, he would not have completed his apprenticeship training to become a successful vulcaniser.

Denrele Speaks On His Last Moments With Goldie And His Gay Allegations
Denrele is one celebrity with a very wild personality who he needs
little or no introduction. Here is an excerpt of a recent interview he
had with with Nigeria Tribune....
What exactly was your relationship with Goldie?
Susan Olubimpe Harvey aka Goldie and I
were best of friends and whilst in death, we still remain best of
friends. I met her in 2006 around the time I featured in Dbanj’s ‘Why
me’ video which many artistes loved and also wanted me to be in their
video. So I received a call from her and when we met at her house, then
she told me she wanted me to be in her video. She gave me the song to go
and listen to, but funny enough, I didn’t even listen to the song, but I
told her I liked it. I remember she offered to pay me N50, 000, which
was a really good deal back then, but I featured in the video without
collecting any money from her and that was how we struck our friendship
and became very good friends.
What are your memories of her?
We shared a lot of memories together
that was so much fun. Since Goldie had been in the industry, there was
none of her videos that I wasn’t a part of. We were so close that we
practically knew everything about each other. We had the same body
proportion, despite her womanly curves. We could both fit perfectly into
each other’s outfit especially when I wanted to get something for or
her or vice versa. We used the same shoe size, we loved the same taste
of perfume and music and we were just so really close.
I remember once when I had typhoid and
malaria and Goldie’s last performance was at the Ember Creek. She was to
perform with a life band, something she had never done before and that
worried her. Artistes like MI, Sasha, Nneka and others had performed and
she was the last person to perform. I introduced her to the stage and
despite how sick I was, we danced so hard at the show that night and it
was really fun.
Can you share your last moments with her?
I was with her when she came back from
the Grammies and I wouldn’t say I watched her die, but rather, I saw her
die. I was at the hospital and I saw as she was taken to the morgue and
I can say whilst in death, we still had the connection.
News had it that you said Goldie died in your arms…
I guess I was misquoted because I
didn’t say anything of such. What happened was that I was there when she
got back and she just started complaining of headache that came from
nowhere. She started crying and gasping for breath. So we rushed her to
the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
I couldn’t easily comprehend what happened because she had never been sick and the only thing that ever worried her was flu and cough. But I guess people wanted answers at the time and because I couldn’t talk then, they started making generalisations. It was a crazy period for me and I also went through a lot after her death.
Some also say you introduced her to drugs.

But I guess people wanted answers at the time and because I couldn’t talk then, they started making generalisations. It was a crazy period for me and I also went through a lot after her death.
Some also say you introduced her to drugs.
What’s your take on that?
Goldie and I never did drugs. The only thing we ever took was white
wine, which wouldn’t even exceed one glass. She loved white wine and I
started drinking it because of her. There was never a time that drug was
involved between us and I guess people just misunderstood what they
saw, because they found it hard to see two friends in the same industry
who do not see themselves as competitors or rivals, but rather looking
out for the best interest in the next person. And such was the world of
Goldie and I.
You had issues with her family over her death…
Well,
I believe when you are friends with someone and something like this
happens, the family would want to know what actually happened and the
only person to give the answers would be the closest friend.
Fortunately for me, the day Goldie
came back, her younger brother was at my house, he had been around two
days before then. Goldie never told me she was coming back that day, as
she wanted to surprise me. So I’m grateful her brother was around. But
as Yoruba, such scenario is not farfetched and more so, the family
needed answers and felt there were mysteries involved. So I was in the
middle of it all and there was nothing I could do, than to live through
it.
You were supposed to start a reality show together...
Yes and it had even started airing.
Actually I was approached to a do a reality show, where I would be
followed for a couple of weeks and it would be documented. So I decided
to do it with her because it was at the point when she came back from
Big Brother Africa (BBA) and things weren’t going on too well for her.
Many Nigerians judged her from what they saw on BBA, so I felt it was a
way to break the jinx and it was exciting.
So is Denrele gay?
I think people believe what they want to believe.
But a lot of people believe you are. And to prove them right, a picture of you Charley Boy went viral on the internet recently…
I
don’t read the news, I make the news. The thing is people tend to look
for loopholes when they see you doing well. And since people feel I’m
feminine in nature, then they think I’m gay. But the truth is I don’t
really care about what people say because I’m not fashioned according to
what the society expects. And also I think for my personality, if I
were gay, the news would have grown from speculations and would have
been in people’s face.
On the part of Charley Boy and me, I was not expecting the paparazzi that came with the picture
Egor Efiok Denies Saying Oge Okoye Had Hypertension
Sometime in May, while trying to explain why Nigerians need to give Monalisa Chinda and her new man Lanre Nzeribe a break and love them as a couple, publicist Egor Efiok revealed that hate comments thrown at Oge Okoye had gotten her hypertensive.
Egor had said:
Why can't you feel happy for Monalisa after knowing what she has been through? Do you want to kill all our celebs with your bullying? I thought you had learnt after Goldie. Celebrities are human and have feelings.
In her attempt to re-brand herself, you bullied Oge Okoye and made her hypertensive. "She's an mgbeke"...she's this...she's that..." you kept firing! While you were busy bullying her for nothing, more talent scouts were noticing her. That comment drew more negative reactions from the public and in a recent interview with Stella Dimokokorkus, Egor tried to explain what she really meant.
Excerpts:
- There was a recent uproar about a letter you wrote and I would like you to explain a few issues that I believe the public would also want answered. First of all, people were annoyed about you revealing Oge Okoye's medical history.
Well, about that, I must admit that I can be over emotional and spontaneous. If I'd given myself 24
hours to think carefully about it, I wouldn't have written it.
My problem is that I'm precocious and often times, I find myself
ignoring people when they don't 'get me', as it's too much of an effort
to explain. hours to think carefully about it, I wouldn't have written it.
Anyone that really knows English and understands the difference between nouns, verbs, adjectives etc would know that I did no such thing. A lot of people say stuff like "excuse my left" when the correct term is "permit my left".
They'd use words like 'peak' when referring to humans instead of 'pique' because they have no clue that the former is a verb and you only use verbs with objects and the latter is a noun which can only be used with humans.
They use tautology a lot too and would promise people 'free gifts' in competitions when both words mean the same thing.
My exact words were "you made Oge Okoye hypertensive with your bullying". I never said Oge had been diagnosed with hypertension.
When they started saying that I revealed Oge's medical history, I just
shook my head. Everyone can get hypertensive or develop high pressure as
a result of anxiety and normally lots of rest would rectify it.
It doesn't mean that they have a condition. For instance, you can hear me viciously coughing in between answering your questions. I have a painful chest infection and have developed high fever as a result. Does it mean I have a heart attack?
Anxiety can bring on stress and heart palpitations, even in pregnancy, and that's exactly what I meant. It doesn't mean that the person was born with the condition. People chide each other all the time saying stuff like "please don't give yourself high blood pressure". Some of those comments can actually bring on any of these conditions and my advice to people that get bothered about them is not to read the comments.
- How did you feel about the comments though? You must be aware that they were quite vicious.
When a friend sent me a few screen grabs of some of the funniest comments, I was laughing so much that she remarked that it's so cool that I have such a good sense of humour.
Dem yab me o, no be small. Thing is, I genuinely find many of the comments hilarious...stuff like I look like an atilogwu dancer at a new yam festival, Mighty Egor and there was this freak wanking over my photos even though he thinks I'm 'not pretty'. I laughed so much and even love the 'Mighty Egor' title. (laughing)
Let's be real, they are genuinely funny, honest some of these anons are entertainers. Not everyone is as laidback as myself though, and some people take these comments to heart, so I'll still stand by my advice not to read the comments. Even I never have the time to read more than the first 20 comments on blogs that have too many comments. Usually, the first 20 comments are enough to deduce what the rest would be like.
So please, I didn't reveal Oge's 'medical condition' and have no knowledge about her medical history. I was just misconstrued and it got blown out of proportion as a result. Ema bi nu, make una no vex mbok.
Jonathan, Fashola, Chime, Fayemi, Oni mourn
President
Goodluck Jonathan on Friday commiserated with the family of the veteran
journalist, Alhaji Alade Odunewu, who died on Thursday at the age of
85.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on
Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President said the
deceased’s relatives and associates should be comforted by the knowledge
that his place alongside the greats of Nigerian journalism was assured.
Jonathan said as they mourned Odunewu’s
death, the present generation of Nigerian journalists should strive to
emulate the deceased’s exemplary craftsmanship, courage, forthrightness,
fairness, patriotism, honesty and moral rectitude.
The statement read, “On behalf of
himself, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, President
Goodluck Jonathan commiserates with the family of foremost journalist,
public affairs analyst, administrator and role model for media
professionals, Alhaji Alade Odunewu, who passed away yesterday at the
age of 85.
“President Jonathan joins the Odunewu
family and all who knew ‘Allah De,’ as he was popularly known, in
mourning the veteran journalist, who attained national fame with his
popular and widely read satirical newspaper columns with which he
entertained, educated and edified an adoring public.”
Also, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has commiserated with the Nigerian media over the death of Odunewu.
The governor, in a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife, described Odunewu as an icon of his profession.
He said the deceased did not only
inspire and nurture many journalistic talents, he also used his writings
to advance the cause of national development and social justice.
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola,
said the late Odunewu had left big shoes, which would be difficult to
fill in the journalism profession in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by his Special
Adviser on Media, Hakeem Bello, on Friday, Fashola described Odunewu, as
one of the greats of the journalism profession in the country.
He urged his family to take solace in
the rich legacy he left behind in journalism and his being named as one
of the 14 icons of journalism development in the 140 years of Nigerian
journalism.
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi,
described Odunewu as an “inimitable icon of journalism, who used his
pen to reform the society.”
Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief
Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said that Odunewu’s contributions
to the media profession would remain indelible in the memory of
Nigerians, who appreciated his readiness to defend the truth.
He urged the contemporary journalists to emulate the ideals, which Odunewu stood for in his lifetime.
In a similar vein, former Governor Segun Oni also joined in mourning the late journalist, describing him as a man of integrity.
He said, “He was a great pen pusher, who never compromised his integrity and that of the journalism profession.
“Baba’s death has no doubt denied the journalism profession the wealth of experience of another of its veterans.”
