Idris Elba Rolls With Barack Obama At Screening Of Nelson Mandela Movie In Washington

By presidential command: Idris Elba attended the White House on Thursday for a screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
He plays treasured world statesman Nelson Mandela in his latest movie.
So it must have felt like second nature for Idris Elba as he visited the White House for a screening of the film in Washington on Thursday.
The Luther star was in high spirits as he mingled with the crowd on his way towards the special event, which was attended by Barack Obama himself.
Thursday best: The dapper star made sure he wore a smart ensemble for his visit to the residence
And no wonder, for it is not every day an actor is invited to a screening of his own film at the presidential residence.
The worlds’ second most powerful man watched the picture at the private White House theater at 6pm local time according to his official daily schedule.
As well as Idris and co-star and Naomie Harris, two of Mandela’s daughters, Zindzi and Zenani also attended.
Excited producer Harvey Weinstein said: ‘Knowing what a strong relationship President Obama has with president Mandela, it’s an honor for this film to be shown at the White House.’
The English star, who likes to go by the moniker of Driis, certainly seemed like he was having a grand time, and smiled and chatted with excited wellwishers as he made his way through the gates to the historic residence.
Gateway to heaven: The Cockney star will have been thrilled to be rubbing shoulders with the president
He had plenty of reasons to smile too, as he is being tipped for an Oscar for his portrayal of the South African leader, who helped end apartheid in the country.
Rebel yell: Idris fisting the air in defiance in the forthcoming Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
