The 76 destitute who were deported a few months ago to Onitsha, Anambra state, by the Lagos State government have dragged the state government to a federal High Court, demanding N1 billion in compensation for the violation of their rights. The suit was filed by seven of the deportees on behalf of themselves and 69 others. Hearing on the suit has been set for next year January 29, 2014.

Lagos Deputy Governor Slams Iyanya’s Female Dancer For Exposing Her Ass While Dancing (PHOTOS)

Iyanya and his talented dancers performed to the delight of fans at the closing ceremony of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer at the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos Island.
But the Lagos state Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Adejoke Orelope Adefulire was totally disgusted at one of Iyanya’s female dancers.
Read the conversation that ensued between the female dancer and the Deputy Governor:
Deputy Governor: I guess you are professional dancers?
Iyanya’s Dancers: Yes ma!
Deputy Governor: If you must entertain without pants on, certainly not in a gathering like this. Just see how you are disgracing and degrading womanhood. Don’t try it again.
Iyanya’s Dancers: Yes ma!
Lol, I support Madam deputy 100%.

Chris Brown blasts Rihanna in new song

Last night Chris Brown released his previously unheard verse from DJ Khaled's single 'I'm Still' containing a clear and present shot at ex-girlfriend, Rihanna...

On the verse Chris raps,
"Every nigga in the industry done fucked my b***h/ And all my niggas said I told ya/Now all these rap niggas wanna be political/Nah, f**k that I'm a real lyrical/killer"
Grow up, Chris Brown, she hasn't been with that many - only Drake, Kanye West, J.Cole, Eminem, ASAP Rocky, Ashton Kutcher, Matt Kemp, Justin Timberlake and Josh Hartnett (rumoured)... that's not everyone in the industry. *sigh*

Music Video Director, Sesan Replies Davido On Allegedly Leaked Skelewu video

Davido has been tweeting that the recently released Skelewu video directed by Sesan Ogunro wasn't the official one and someone betrayed him by releasing it. And that the official video will be shot by UK based music video director Moe Musa...see his tweets below.
Meanwhile Sesan has released a press statement to that effect, but first read Davido's tweets.
You can find Sesan's statement and more tweets after the cut...

Read Sesan's statement below:
My attention is drawn toward  the chaos surrounding the release of the Skelewu video .

Myself and my team shot the video for Davido in Nigeria and to the best of my knowledge my client and his team were very happy with the result, when they watched/ and approved the video. If he has since had a change of heart, that is ok. I am not in any way responsible for the release of the video. I believe Davido and myself did a very good job regarding the video production and as a professional of over 10 years. I find it very irresponsible and immature if my client and his management publicly put out false statements/comments, in an attempt to tarnish my name, credibility and reputation.

I remain dedicated, humble, focused and as hard working as ever. Thank you to all my fans and industry professionals - Stay blessed.

Aviation officials claim $1.6m ministerial car scandal is “all rumours”

Sahara Reporters reported yesterday that Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah forced cash-strapped Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA to spend $1.6m on two armored cars for her. A rep for the minister claims the report, despite documents to show the purchase of the cars, is false.

Aviation spokesman, Yakubu Datti, told Premium Times
“I don’t respond to rumours…and as we approach 2015, people are bound to make up all sorts of stories. This is a woman (Mrs. Oduah) who is successful and established. A woman that made her mark in oil and gas, who owned trucks, barges, and so on. What is two cars?"

UCH Ibadan performs first open heart surgery

The first open heart surgery in a teaching hospital in Nigeria has been successfully carried out at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The feat was carried out by surgeons at the UCH in conjunction with a team of surgeons from Tri-State Cardiovascular Delaware, USA. (The surgical team that performed the feat pictured above)

A statement by the institution’s Head of Information Unit, Mr. Toye Akinrinola, disclosed that the four-hour surgery was to correct a leaking heart valve in a 19-year-old secondary school leaver.

An elated Chief Medical Director of the UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge, noted that the UCH was moved to embark on the exercise as a way of alleviating the hardship being experienced by Nigerians with heart-related challenges.

He stated that as the first teaching hospital in Nigeria, the UCH should take the lead in critical areas of medicine, propelling it into ensuring that complex surgeries (like open heart surgery) were carried out in the hospital.

“We are the pioneer teaching hospital in Nigeria, and we should be taking the lead. We are going to do this and we intend to make it a continuous exercise.

“In fact, within the next six months, we intend carrying out not less than 30 heart-related surgeries and at affordable cost to Nigerians.”

Alonge, who lamented that Nigerians pay exorbitantly to undergo such procedures outside the country, pointing out that the cheapest rate outside Nigeria was about N2.5 million.

“This is outside the airfare and hotel bills. It will run into millions. But with us here, it will be a lot cheaper and the access is there. The first surgery is heavily subsidised as a way of encouraging Nigerians to have confidence in our healthcare system.”

Alonge stated that the Federal Government had given the UCH a mandate to improve on the training of doctors as a way of enhancing more access to adequate healthcare in Nigeria.

Leader of the doctors from the USA, Dr. Kamar Adeleke noted that the patient would be back to his normal activities in less than two months.

“He does not have anything to fear about life expectancy. He will soon resume his normal activities, and do all the things he was used to before he took ill,” Dr. Adeleke said.

Adeleke gave assurance of his continued support to providing access to adequate healthcare as obtained in other developed countries.

After more than a decade of of inactivity, open heart surgery resumed in the country at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu, at an average cost of N500, 000.

Nigerian Man Deported After Getting Caught In UK Sham Marriage [Photo]

Sham Marriage
The groom of a sham marriage ceremony cut short by a raid by immigration officers has now been sent back home.
Officers interrupted the sham marriage at Harrow Civic Centre, in Station Road, following suspicions over the couple’s true intentions. Staff from the Home Office waited for the arrival of the 32-year-old man from Nigeria and the 22-year-old bride to be from Portugal.
Both were arrested, to the surprise of guests at the ceremony, and the man has since been sent back to Nigeria after it was found he was getting married after his visa had run out.
Leader of Harrow Borough Council Susan Hall said:
“We believe in a fair borough and it is simply disgraceful to lie in our registry office in order to cheat the system.” “It is appalling to see the lengths some people go to in dressing up and organising guests for a sham marriage.
“A marriage is supposed to be the happiest day in your life. Well, in this case, the couple certainly got a day they won’t forget.”
The woman involved has since been bailed as the investigation continues.
On Thursday last week Government published the Immigration Bill, which carries a number of proposals to clamp down on sham marriages.

Banned for life: School mistress stopped from teaching after engaging in sexual activity with 16-year-old pupil

A 27-year-old school mistress has been banned from teaching for life after she invited a 16-year-old school boy to her home and kissed him.
Heather Bartlett, who taught Geography at Hitchin Boys’ School, was found guilty of unprofessional conduct after police cautioned her for engaging in sexual activity with a teenager.
She was told by a disciplinary panel she would not be allowed back into a classroom after admitting to meeting the male pupil on three separate occasions.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership also discovered she was cautioned by Hertfordshire Police on 29 January 2013 for sexual activity with a male aged 13 to 17.
The panel said a life-time ban was necessary in the public interest to maintain confidence in the teaching profession and to declare and uphold proper standards of conduct.
Giving the final decision on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, Paul Heathcote said: ‘Ms Bartlett has admitted all the allegations and that they amount to unacceptable professional conduct, and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute. The panel have concluded the same.
‘Ms Bartlett’s behaviour was a serious departure from the personal and professional conduct standards of the latest Teachers’ Standards, and misconduct which affected the well-being of the pupil concerned.
‘Ms Bartlett’s actions involved abuse of a position of trust and was compounded by her initial denials on separate occasions to both the police and the school.’
He said the panel noted the testimonials in support of Ms Bartlett and found she has shown insight and remorse.
He continued: ‘However, in view of the seriousness of this case, particularly the presence of sexual misconduct, I agree with the panel’s recommendation that Ms Bartlett should be prohibited without the opportunity to have the sanction reviewed.’
The decision means that Bartlett is prohibited from teaching indefinitely in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England.
Bartlett, who was employed at the school  from September 2011 until March 2013, has a right of appeal to the High Court.
