The past weekend had an unfortunate fate in store for an elderly man in Kaduna state, simply known as ‘Baba Garba’.
Baba Garba was at the weekend stabbed by his 24-year-old nephew, Saidu Iliyasu for allegedly practicing witchcraft.
According to reports, Iliyasu followed his uncle to a farm located at Sabon Birnin Daji village in Igabi Local Government Area of the state and stabbed him to death.
Baba Garba, as he was fondly called, had two wives and three children before his death.
“I was sick for five days and thought he wanted to bewitch me so I followed him to the farm and stabbed him to death. People have been accusing him of been a wizard, so I thought he was planning to kill me when I took ill,” Saidu said.
It was further gathered that after the incident, the suspect left the village, so his father, who is an elder brother to the deceased, was arrested by the police.
Speaking to newsmen, the suspect said when his friends informed him about his father’s arrest, he had to return to the village.
“I left Hayin Kogi village where I was hiding to save my father from the police. I do not know what made me to carry out such an evil act”, he said.
When contacted, Kaduna State police spokesman, Aminu Lawan, said the man was arrested in connection with a murder case, and will soon be charged to court.
