Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, yesterday joined millions of Borno indigenes in mourning the sudden death of the senator, describing him as a legislator who stood in defence of Borno’s masses.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condoled with the family of the late senator, describing his death as a huge loss not just to the people of Borno State but to Nigeria.
APC in statement by its national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while describing Sen. Zannah’s death as huge loss to his family, state and the senate, prayed that God will strengthen the family so that it can bear the irreparable loss
Shettima hailed the passion of the late lawmaker as one who chose to stand on the side of his people in the darkest days of insurgency attacks.
A statement by the spokesman of Governor Shettima, Isa Gusau, said the governor was thrown into grief on receiving news about the senator’s death.“The late senator defied fears and consistently pushed authorities into rising up to their obligations to protect lives and property of Nigerians. At every point there were attacks or potential threats to communities, Senator Zannah was always the first to come public demanding the rights of the masses to security of their lives and freedom. He regularly stood for the masses without compromising for one second.”
Meanwhile Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the late Senator Zannah as one of the greatest grassroots politicians he had ever met in the course of his interactions with leaders.
The former Vice President, was reacting to the death in a statement issued by his media office in Abuja yesterday.
He said he was amazed by the level of zeal and sincerity with which Senator Zanna had represented his people.
