Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, met with South African President, Jacob Zuma.
Also present at the meeting in South Africa was outgoing Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adeshina.
Atiku met with Zuma on behalf of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to help Adesina’s chances of becoming the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Ties between both countries were recently put under pressure after xenophobic attacks in SA led to a series of back and forth which eventually resulted in the suspension of the Permanent Secretary of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danjuma Sheni.
