  Anna Wintour may have enforced a strict selfie ban inside this year's Met Gala, but that didn't stop our favourite stars from documenting their pre-party pampering sessions on social media.
  From carb-loading ahead of the party to last-minute dress alterations, the great and good of Tinseltown gave us a sneak peek into what getting ready like an A-lister is really like.
  Models Gigi Hadid and Lily Aldridge joined pals Tabitha Simmons and Karen Elson for a 'ladies lunch' - and were seen feasting on big bowls of pasta.

  Kendall Jenner, meanwhile, got glammed up with her friend Joan Smalls. The duo, who are the faces of Estee Lauder, were lucky enough to road test some soon-to-launch beauty products on the red carpet.
  Kendall, 19, used the brand's Little Black Primer, which she has starred in a video to promote, as well as the new liquid liner that's launching this summer.
  Joan, who Kendall has worked closely with since joining the beauty house, opted for a more daring look. In a snap uploaded to Instagram, Joan was seen rocking magenta eyeshadow, with the caption: 'The eye everyone will be talking about tomorrow'.

  Esteemed make-up artist and friend to the stars, Charlotte Tilbury, was on hand to beautiful some of last night's leading ladies.
  Most notably, she treated the 'always stunning' Amal Clooney to her signature Dolce Vita makeover. She contoured Amal's skin with Kim Kardashian's favourite Filmstar Bronze and Glow, and trialled her soon-to-launch Matte Revolution lipstick in 1975 Red on George Clooney's wife.
  Charlotte and her team also helped 'utterly gorgeous' songstress Ellie Goulding get ready for her first-ever Met Gala. 'I paired her stunning dress ivory pearl dress by Marchesa with the Docle Vita Look make-up,' said Charlotte.
